Biological value of pepino (Solanum muricatum Aiton) fruit at different stages of its ripeness depending on the growth cycle

Plants from 6 different pepino clones were cultivated on rockwool in a greenhouse in the spring-summer and autumn cycles in the years 1998-00. Fruit at two stages of ripeness was collected for analyses. The biological value of pepino fruit depended on the growth cycle, stage of ripeness and clone. Higher value was observed in the fruit from the spring-summer cycle than from the autumn cycle, mainly in respect to their content of vitamin C
