The primary aim of our research was to learn theoretical as well as practical basis of pedology - a branch of natural sciences dealing with the soil. We tried to establish the direct influence of the bedrock upon the chemical and physical caracteristics of the soil. We compared soils of the same land use on limestone, dolomite and flint sandstone. Based on literature we anticipated certain tipe of soil (above these parent material), therefore we chose the locations, dug for the soil cross sections (profile) and carried out physical and chemical analyses of the soil levels - horizont. We found out that the soils are different according to the bedrock. Soils on dolomite have got clay texture and firm grade structure. They are deep and only slightly washed out, because we did not find any carbonates. Soils on flint sandstone are shallow and inhomogeneous (horizont (B)zep). Soil structure is low, soils are acid, with lower clay content than in soils on carbonate rocks.
