Effect of cover crops and direct sowing on emergence, growth and yield of sweet corn

A field experiment was conducted in 1996-98 on grey-brown podzolic soil formed from medium loamy clay. The purpose of the studies was to determine the residual effect of cover crops (Sinapis alba and Avena sativa L.) and direct sowing on emergence, growth and yield of sweet corn cv. Zlota Karlowa. The studies found out a significant influence of Sinapis alba L. on the increase of sweet corn colbs yield. Direct sowing did not have a detrimental effect on emergence, growth and yield of sweet corn cv. Zlota Karlowa
