Reisen fra hjemmet til togstasjonen : tilrettelegging for gående rundt stasjonsområder : en casestudie av gangbarheten til togstasjonene Kolbotn, Myrvoll og Oppegård

Hovedtyngden av boliger, postkontor, skoler og butikker var i en årrekke lokalisert rundt jernbanestasjonene i flere norske byer og tettsteder. Da det i 1960 ble slutt på bilrasjoneringen i Norge, skjedde en stor endring innad i landet. Oppfinnelsen av den private bilen hadde forandret menneskets frihet til reise hvor som helst, når som helst, og så langt som mulig. Bilens inntog førte til en endring i utviklingsmønsteret i landets kommuner, da det ble det bygd ut en rekke områder som lå stadig lengre unna togstasjonene. De var i større grad tilgjengelig med privatbilen enn med kollektivtransporten. Flere funksjoner ble spredd og i mindre grad liggende i gangavstand til hverandre. Personbilens negative påvirkning på miljøet, byer og tettsteder har medført ønsker om å redusere trafikken med mer miljøvennlige framkomstmidler. Det eksisterer mål om at en større andel reiser skal tas til fots, med sykkel eller med kollektivtransport, og det skal skje i form av flere gang- og sykkelveier samt bedring av kollektivnettet. Samtidig har det blitt et stadig større fokus på en mer helhetlig stasjonsutvikling – en utvikling der togstasjonene skal danne et knutepunkt med både god tilgang til togene og andre offentlige transporttilbud, handel og service, attraktive omgivelser og med god arkitektur i det offentlige rom. Det har i midlertidig vært lite fokus på god tilgang til togstasjonene fra eksisterende og omkringliggende bebyggelse. Oppgaven tar for seg tematikken rundt den første etappen i reisekjeden til kollektivreisen – reisen fra hjemmet til togstasjonen. Den ser spesielt på hvordan det er tilrettelagt å ferdes som fotgjenger til togstasjonene Kolbotn, Myrvoll og Oppegård i Oppegård kommune. Målet for oppgaven er å finne ut hva som gjør det attraktivt å gå til togstasjoner, hvordan det er tilrettelagt for fotgjengere som går til togstasjonene, samt hvordan brukerne av stasjonene opplever gåturen til stasjonen og hva som påvirker rutevalgene deres. For å finne ut av hva som gjør det attraktivt å gå til togstasjoner, er det gjort en litteraturstudie for å undersøke hva som er viktig for fotgjengere på vei til kollektivtransporten. Funnene fra litteraturen har lagt føringer for hvilke fysiske forhold som ble analysert på caseområdene, samt utformingen av spørsmålene i spørreundersøkelsen. Gjennom å samle inn den samme informasjonen om alle de tre områdene, analyseres forhold for å sammenligne og se hva som skiller seg ut, både positivt og negativt. På bakgrunn av analysene konkluderes det med at ingen av caseområdene er spesielt godt tilrettelagt eller attraktive for fotgjengere. Alle har flere utfordringer å hanskes med, og til tross for at det er planer som berører deler av utfordringene, er det likevel en rekke forhold som står uadressert. Dagens situasjon for fotgjengere på vei til togstasjonene er preget av dårlig tilrettelegging og lite sammenhengende gangnett, barrierer i form av trafikkerte veier med høye fartsgrenser og få fotgjengeroverganger. Likevel utpeker Kolbotn seg som stasjonsområdet brukerne er mest fornøyd med og Myrvoll de er minst fornøyd med.

The majority of housing, post offices, schools and shops were for number of years situated around the railway stations in several Norwegian cities and villages. When Norwegian car rationing ended in 1960, there was a big change within the country. The invention of the passenger car had changed the residents’ liberty to travel wherever, whenever, and as far as possible. The car’s intake led to a change in the development pattern in the nation’s municipalities, when several areas were built further away from the train stations. These areas were now more easily accessible by car than with public transportation. Several features were spread out and, to a lesser extent, within walking distance to each other. The negative impact of the car on the environment, cities and towns has led to a desire to reduce traffic with more environmentally friendly means of prevention. There is a goal that a bigger proportion of travelling should be taken on foot, by bicycle or by public transportation, which will take place in the form of a higher number of walking and bicycle pathways, as well as improving the public transportation network. At the same time, there has been an increasing focus on a more comprehensive station development - a development where the train stations will form a hub with both good access to trains and other public transport services, trade and service, attractive surroundings and good public space architecture. However, good access from existing and surrounding settlement has not been an area of priority. The case study addresses the theme of the first stage of the travel of public transportation – the journey from the home to the train station. It specifically looks at how the infrastructure is arranged to travel as a pedestrian to the train stations Kolbotn, Myrvold and Oppegård in Oppegård municipality. The purpose of the assignment is to find out what makes it attractive to travel on foot to train stations, how the area is arranged for pedestrians, and how the users of the stations experience the walk to the station and what affects their route choices. To find out what makes it attractive to walk to train stations, a literature study has been conducted to investigate what is important for pedestrians on their way to public transportation. The findings from the literature have provided guidelines for the physical conditions that were analysed in the case areas, as well as the design of the questions in the survey. By collecting the same information about all three areas, this were analysed to compare and see what factors stands out, both positive and negative. Based on the analysis, it is concluded that none of the case areas are particularly well organized or attractive to pedestrians. Everyone has several challenges to deal with, and despite the fact that there are planning that affect parts of these challenges, there are still a number of unassailable issues. Poor facilitation and low interconnected pedestrian networks, barriers in the form of busy roads with high speed limits and few pedestrian crossings characterize the current situation of pedestrians on the way to the train stations. Nevertheless, Kolbotn points out as the station area users are most pleased with and Myrvoll they are least pleased with.
