The occurrence of misshaped tubers and tubers with cracks on the surface dependening on meteorological factors and cultivars | Występowanie deformacji i spękań bulw ziemniaka w zależności od warunków meteorologicznych i odmiany

The aim of the study was to describe the influence of meteorological factors during the vegetation period on the occurrence of tuber growth cracks and tuber deformations in the potato yield cultivated in light sandy soil. We conducted an evaluation of the potato cultivars with regard to occurrence of the tubers with these defects. In this study we used data on the share of tubers with growth cracks and tuber deformations in cultivars of different maturity groups. The tubers were collected during the experiments conducted in Potato Agronomy Department IHAR, in 2001–2011. Field trials were performed in light sandy-clay or clay soils. In all tested years, standardized and very similar agrotechnical treatments were applied. That way we could assume that the main source of variance in tuber deformations are the meteorological conditions in each year. The analyses of relationships between the meteorological factors in subsequent tuber growth phases and the occurrence of tuber deformations in cultivars of different maturity groups showed that the critical period for occurrence of tubers deformations was from full flowering to the end of flowering, that is during the early intensive phase of tuber growth. A strong relationship was found between the mean soil temperature and Sielianinow coefficient in this period and the occurrence of tuber deformations in all maturity groups of potato cultivars. Moreover, the relationship was found between total rainfall and the occurrence of tuber growth cracks in the final phase of plants’ growth. There was a significant relationship between the total rainfall and Sielianinow coefficient in the period of plants’ senescence and the occurrence of tuber growth cracks. The analyses showed that the cultivars of the same maturity are significantly different in response to environmental conditions expressed by the presence of potato tubers with defects.

Celem badań było określenie oddziaływania czynników meteorologicznych w okresie wegetacji na występowanie bulw spękanych i zdeformowanych w warunkach uprawy ziemniaka na glebie lekkiej oraz ocena zmienności odmian poszczególnych wczesności pod względem występowania bulw z wymienionymi defektami w plonie. W badaniach wykorzystano dane dotyczące udziału bulw spękanych i zdeformowanych w plonach, zebrane w trakcie realizacji doświadczeń odmianowych prowadzonych w Zakładzie Agronomii Ziemniaka IHAR, w latach 2001–2011. Doświadczenia polowe, z których pobierano odpowiednie próby zakładane były corocznie na glebie wytworzonej z piasków słabo gliniastych i gliniastych lekkich. We wszystkich latach realizacji eksperymentów stosowano standardową agrotechnikę uprawy ziemniaka, zachowując bardzo zbliżony poziom zabiegów. Takie zasady realizacji badań pozwoliły na przyjęcie założenia, że źródłem zmienności występowania bulw z defektami kształtu są zróżnicowane warunki meteorologiczne lat badań. Wykonane analizy zależności pomiędzy poziomem podstawowych czynników meteorologicznych w kolejnych fazach rozwoju roślin i występowaniem każdej z wad bulw w plonach odmian poszczególnych wczesności wykazały, że okresem, w którym stan pogody w najwyższym stopniu wpływa na występowanie w plonie bulw z deformacjami jest czas od pełni kwitnienia roślin do końca tej fazy, tj. okres początkowego, intensywnego rozwoju bulw. Stwierdzono istotną zależność pomiędzy temperaturą gleby oraz wartością współczynnika Sielianinowa w w/w okresie a udziałem bulw zdeformowanych w plonie wszystkich grup wczesności. Natomiast występowanie bulw spękanych istotnie determinowały warunki zaopatrzenia roślin w wodę w końcowej fazie ich wzrostu. Odnotowano istotne zależności pomiędzy sumami opadów oraz wartością współczynnika Sielianinowa w okresie zasychania roślin a udziałem bulw ze spękaniami. Badania wykazały, że odmiany tej samej wczesności istotnie różnią się, co do stopnia reakcji na warunki środowiska wyrażające się występowaniem w plonie bulw o wadliwym kształcie.
