The role of agronomy in development of multi-functional agriculture — in the light of X Congress of the European Society for Agronomy | Rola agronomii w rozwoju rolnictwa wielofunkcyjnego — w świetle X Kongresu Europejskiego Towarzystwa Agronomicznego

Inglés. The search for a new model of multi-functional agriculture, developing in a balanced and sustainable way, requires the support of science. The new environmental, economic and social conditions pose further challenges for scientists. Meeting these challenges requires interdisciplinary but integrated action. International scientific societies can play an important role in this action. The European Society for Agronomy, bringing together scientists of many specialties, was the organizer of the Congress devoted to multifunctional agriculture and in particular to new sources of energy and environmental preservation (10th Congress of the ESA: Multi-functional Agriculture: Agriculture as a Resource for Energy and Environmental Preservation. 15–19 September 2008, Bologna, Italy). In the presented papers and discussions some specific problems were addressed, among which the most important were: the protection of land and water, including control of erosion and agronomic techniques for the protection of ecosystems, technology for the preservation of biodiversity, the new challenges for plant production, including production of functional food and nutraceuticals, bio-mass and energy, as well as the use of genomics to more sustainable agriculture. Particular attention was paid to agriculture in terms of the changing climate and an attempt was done at estimation of the sensitivity of agrosystems to warming. Models and strategies for adaptation at agricultural crops to regional conditions were presented.

Polaco. Poszukiwanie nowego modelu rolnictwa wielofunkcyjnego, rozwijającego się w sposób zrównoważony i trwały, wymaga wsparcia ze strony nauki. Nowe uwarunkowania środowiskowe, ekonomiczne i społeczne stawiają przed naukowcami kolejne wyzwania. Sprostanie tym wyzwaniom wskazuje na potrzebę działania interdyscyplinarnego, ale zintegrowanego. Istotną rolę mogą w tym spełniać międzynarodowe towarzystwa naukowe. Europejskie Towarzystwo Agronomiczne, zrzeszające naukowców wielu specjalności, było organizatorem kongresu poświęconego rolnictwu wielofunkcyjnemu, a w szczególności rolnictwu mającemu na celu pozyskiwanie nowych źródeł energii i ochronę środowiska naturalnego (10th Congress of the ESA: Multi-functional Agriculture: Agriculture as a Resource for Energy and Environmental Preservation. 15–19 September 2008, Bologna, Italy). W przedstawionych referatach i dyskusji poruszano szczegółowe problemy, spośród których najważniejszymi były: ochrona lądu i wody, w tym kontrola erozji gleb i agronomiczne sposoby ochrony ekosystemów, technologie dla ochrony bioróżnorodności, nowe wyzwania dla produkcji roślinnej, w tym produkcja żywności funkcjonalnej i nutraceutyków oraz biomasy i energii, a także wykorzystanie genomiki dla bardziej zrównoważonego rolnictwa. Szczególną uwagę zwróco¬no na rolnictwo w aspekcie zmieniającego się klimatu, dokonano próby oszacowania wrażliwości agrosystemów na ocieplanie. Przedstawiono modele i strategie adaptacji roślin uprawnych do warunków regionalnych.
