Evaluation of the usefulness of straw from selected species and varieties of cereals and grasses for the production of drinking straws | Ocena przydatności słomy z wybranych gatunków i odmian zbóż i traw do produkcji słomek do napojów

Inglés. The evaluation of the suitability of straw from different varieties of cereals and grasses for the production of beverage straws was studied. Tests were conducted on a total of 19 different genotypes, of which 12 were cereal species and four were perennial grasses. Measurements of shoot length, number of internodes and internode dimensions (length and diameter) were carried out for each of the genotypes tested. In order to distinguish the most useful varieties for straw production, two criteria were adopted for the dimensions of the raw material: minimum straw length (at least 20 cm) and minimum straw diameter (4 mm). These parameters correspond to standards for polypropylene straws. Statistical analyses showed significant variation among the tested varieties in terms of these parameters. Some tested varieties of cereals and grasses did not meet the requirements for straw length and diameter. In contrast, several cereal and grass varieties were found to be particularly suitable for straw production. Cereal varieties such as, for example, RADZIO winter oats, DAŃKOWSKA GRANIATKA and NADWIŚLANKA winter wheat, and the MARDAN variety of switch millet were characterized by a high proportion of internodes meeting quality requirements. The diameter of the internode was a key factor influencing the suitability of the straw for making beverage straws.

Polaco. Badano ocenę przydatności słomy różnych odmian zbóż i traw do produkcji słomek do napojów. Przeprowadzono badania na łącznie 19 różnych genotypach, z których 12 to gatunki zbóż, a 4 to trawy wieloletnie. Przeprowadzono pomiary długości pędu, liczby międzywęźli oraz wymiarów międzywęźli (długość i średnica) dla każdego z badanych genotypów. Aby wyodrębnić najbardziej przydatne odmiany do produkcji słomek, przyjęto dwa kryteria dotyczące wymiarów surowca: minimalna długość słomki (co najmniej 20 cm) oraz minimalna średnica słomki (4 mm). Parametry te odpowiadają normom dla słomek z polipropylenu. Analizy statystyczne wykazały istotne zróżnicowanie między badanymi odmianami pod względem tych parametrów. Niektóre badane odmiany zbóż i traw nie spełniały wymagań dotyczących długości i średnicy słomki. Z kolei, znaleziono kilka odmian zbóż i traw, które były szczególnie przydatne do produkcji słomek. Odmiany zbóż takie jak np. owies ozimy RADZIO, pszenica ozima: DAŃKOWSKA GRANIATKA oraz NADWIŚLANKA czy odmiana prosa rózgowatego MARDAN charakteryzowały się wysokim udziałem międzywęźli spełniających wymagania jakościowe. Średnica międzywęźla była kluczowym czynnikiem wpływającym na przydatność słomy do wytwarzania słomek do napojów.
