The Effect of Seed Density Depending on Sowing Methods on Wheat Grain Yield and Some Yield Components in Rainfed Conditions
2022
Taner, Seyfi
This study was carried out with Taner bread wheat cultivar as sowing method and density per square meter, 10cm x 10cm and 100 seeds; 5cm x 10cm and 200 seeds; It is aimed to investigate the effects on grain yield and yield components by using 5cm x 5cm and 400 seeds and 5 rows x 20 cm row spacing and 550 seeds in traditional row planting with single seed and traditional row planting of different amounts of seed density per unit area. The study was carried out in the research area of Karamanoğlu Mehmetbey University in the 2018-2019 production season under rainfed conditions with 4 replications in randomized block designed. The number of suitable plants per unit area significantly affects the grain yield. According to 550 (traditional row sowing) seeds, which is the seed equivalent of 5 rows x 20cm sowing; It will provide an increase of 2.3% in the form of 5cm x 10cm planting, which corresponds to 200 seeds per square meter, and 9.5% in yield per decare in the form of 5cm x 5cm single plant planting, which corresponds to 400 seeds, and with the development of tools and equipment suitable for planting, it will make a significant contribution to the yield of wheat grown in the dry areas of our country. On the other hand, the fact that the thousand kernel weight in single plant sowings is higher than the traditional planting will ensure that the above-sieve ratio for the use of certified seeds will also be higher, thus increasing the seed utilization capacity and lowering the seed cost.
