Income eligibility
1984
Abstract: Guidelines for determining income eligibility for the Special Supplemental Food Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) are presented in this section of the training manual used by the Massachusetts WIC Program. General questions about household income examine the sources and types of income. Follow-up questions are suggested for situations in which individuals report 1) no income, 2) unemployment, 3) self-employment, and 4) overtime. Specific questions appropriate for interviewing medicaid recipients, students, military personnel, and clergy are also included. Household size and the number of people supported by household income are important in determining income eligibility for WIC. Specific questions are presented relevant to household situations that include 1) a foster child, 2) child support, 3) an institutionalized family member, and 4) living with another family. (aj).
