Policy implications of the study on opportunities and status of black agricultural economists
1985
Davis, C. G. (Carlton George)
Extract: This paper will first re-review important environmental changes within the agricultural economics profession. Second, it will attempt to relate some of these changes to policy issues relevant to black agricultural economists, given the findings of the Committee on Opportunities and Status of Blacks in Agricultural Economics. The discussion of environmental changes will draw heavily on a recent study by Blank focusing on agricultural economics programs in the United States and Canada over the 1975-1984 period. The particular aspects of environmental changes evaluated were (1) student enrollment, (2) student composition, and (3) academic program areas. The characteristics of these three components are discussed.
