Abstract: A comprehensive text discusses the current state of knowledge on the physiology of glucose homeostasis, the various metabolic disturbances that result in hypoglycemia, and clinical features of the various hypoglycemic syndromes. The 9 chapters present information for medical students, practitioners, internists, and other health professionals. Topics covered include: physiological and pathological considerations; infant and child hypoglycemia; clinical aspects and diagnosis in adults; insulinoma; and various types of hypoglycemias (e.g., drug-induced; factitial and autoimmune; resulting from liver, kidney, or endocrine disorders; reactive types).
