Vivian Wiser was a historian for the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Economic Research Service. Born on a farm in New York, Wiser attended the University of Maryland for her bachelor's, master's and Ph. D degress. Employed by the federal government for over 33 years, she workedat the National Archives for 11 years and the history group of the USDA for 19 years. She is coauthor of Century of Service: The First 100 years of the United States Department of Agriculture (1963) and has published bulletins and articles in historical journals.
