Theodore Byerly (1902-1990) was an instructor of zoology and a professor of poultry science, as well as a U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) employee for 40 years. Though the focus of his work was animal husbandry, he also performed research on beef, swine, and sheep. While with the USDA, Byerly served as chief of Animal and Poultry Husbandry Research, and the Agricultural Research Service (ARS) deputy administrator of farm research.
