Southeast Kansas water supply study
1980
"The domestic water needs of rural areas and small towns in 22 counties of southeast Kansas were defined in this preliminary investigation. A system of potential small reservoirs was delineated to satisfy those needs and comparisons made with other sources including existing large reservoirs and groundwater. Logical service areas were identified and alternative water treatment and distribution systems formulated for each regional area. Costs to develop the alternative systems were estimated and related to the present and projected future populations for these service areas. ... The study area consists of the Neosho, Verdigris, and Marais des Cygnes basins in southeast Kansas. ... The intent of this study was to formulate county or multicounty area water distribution systems with surface water reservoirs sufficient to satisfy present water needs during severe droughts and to provide reserves for future growth."--Introduction.
