Abstract: Home-freezing, both long-term and short-term, saves time and money through seasonal purchasing and batch cooking. Long-term storage is effective for bulk and seasonal purchases. Short-term storage is a money-saving technique for varying meals with cooked foods and leftovers. Guidelines demonstrate how food may be kept well to retain flavor and nutrient value. Foods suitable for freezing are discussed with cooking techniques and suggestions for thawing. The purchase of proper equipment is explained to include the freezer and its maintenance and packaging and storage needs. Length of storage time is given for all recommended foods.
