Dietary collection procedures
1987
Iyengar, V.
Extract: There is no single method that may be regarded as entirely satisfactory for the purpose of estimating the human dietary intake of nutrients and toxic substances in foods, since each approach has some limitation or the other. Yet, many decisions of public health concern need to be made with analytical information available from ongoing biomedical trace element research studies. Therefore, every effort should be made to generate reliable analytical data from these investigations. More efforts are urgently needed to develop several kinds of dietary reference materials and to promote their use in standardizing analytical procedures in the food analysis laboratories if the results generated from field studies are to be used for the development of newer concepts for improving the currently used dietary intake models and to provide new guidelines.(author)
