Recent studies at the University of California at Berkeley demonstrate that the properties of wine are not due solely to its alcohol content. It also contains over 300 other components including minerals, vitamins, organic acids and other organic compounds. These congeners enhance absorption of certain nutritional elements and play roles in relieving tension and promoting longevity. Wine in moderation is coming into vogue increasingly in the U.S. Metabolic charts are included.
