The study has analyzed the influencing factors of rural entrepreneurship development among the farm households in the Cooch Behar district of West Bengal. The data were collected from 60 entrepreneurial and 60 non-entrepreneurial households by personal interview method. By applying Probit model, the study has adopted three basic aspects, viz. personal attributes, farm-centric attributes and society-centric attributes and has evaluated their contribution to rural entrepreneurship development. According to the study, farm size, income from agriculture, irrigation source, risk-taking behaviour of farmers and government support are the attributes that significantly contribute to the development of a rural enterprise. The income from a running institute has also been found to be signigicant in sustaining and developing the enterprise. The study has also indentified the factors that constraint entrepreneurship development. The paper has provided suggestions also for strengthening the rural entrepreneurship development momentum through organizations of promotional and training programs on a massive scale.
