The structure elucidation of protocheline (1-N-[2-N′,6-N′-di(2,3-dihydroxybenzoyl)-L-lysyl]-4-N-(2,3-dihydroxybenzoyl)- 1,4-diaminobutane (3 a) isolated from the culture filtrate of a bacterium (DMS No. 5746) grown in an iron-deficient medium is described.
