The Fine art of publicizing
1984
Bain, Margaret
Publicity can be used to present school activities to the community. Local newspapers can be encouraged to feature activities from various schools on a regular basis. The Salt Lake City Food Service Department has been successful with a weekly suburban newspaper. Major newspapers aren't receptive to stories about school lunch on a regular basis, but once a year they may be willing to promote a major issue such as National School Lunch Week. Radio and television are more selective. Keep the media informed by regularly sending information on the foodservice program. Encourage employee involvement in special projects such as saving coupons, which can be exchanged for items schools can use. (kbc)
