Plasma high-density lipoproteins
1978
Tall, Alan R. | Small, Donald M.
The measurement and normal levels of high-density lipoproteins (HDL), their chemical composition, the properties of the molecules making up HDL, and the structure of different HDL particles are discussed. A possible molecular mechanism is presented by which HDL precursors can be produced from the surface of chylomicrons or very-low-density lipoproteins (VLDL) during their catabolism in peripheral tissue. Potential clinical implications of enhanced or defective chylomicron and VLDL catabolism are specified. Diagrams and a table listing normal HDL cholesterol values are included.
