Reaction of Rice Landraces to the Brown Plant Hopper, Nilaparvata lugens (Homoptera: Delphacidae)

Of 280 landraces screened, 22 landraces showed varied level of resistance to BPH feeding. Out of these 22 landraces, 15 landraces were highly resistant with damage score of 0–4 and seven landraces were moderately resistant with damage score of 5–7. The mean number of BPH was ranged from 9 to 75 in JBT 36/14 and Baiganmanji, respectively. The population mean was high in Baiganmanji (75.00), followed by Kalakolli (68.25), TN 1 (66.50), Jaya (65.25), Mysore mallige (65.25), Akkalu 1 (58.5), Ratnachoodi 2 (58.5), Honasu 2 (56.25), Moradde (56.25) and the lowest population was recorded on JBT 36/14 (2.00) followed by Chinnaponni (18.75), Manila (20.00), Anilamanil (21.75), Raibhog (23.5) and Ugibatta (24.5).
