Radiation Screens for Air Temperature Measurement
1965
MacHattie, L. B.
Thermometers shaded from direct sunshine may read 5{\circ}—10{\circ}F higher than air temperature, due to terrestrial and reflected solar radiation. An experimental comparison of four types of thermometer screens close agreement at night or under canopy; but in sunshine the thermometer in one screen read 1 degree—3 degrees F higher than ambient air temperature.
