Effect of Drought Stress in Rice: A Review on Morphological and Physiological Characteristics
2012
Plant growth and productivity of rice is adversely affected by various biotic and abiotic stress factors. Water deficit is one of the major abiotic stresses, which adversely affects crop growth and yield. Water stress is a limiting factor in agriculture production by preventing a crop from reaching the genetically determined theoretical maximum yield. In plants, a better understanding of the morphological and physiological basis of changes in water stress resistance could be used to select or create new varieties of crops to obtain a better performance under water stress conditions. This review describes some aspects of drought induced effect of drought stress on morphological, physiological yield and its associated traits in rice.
