A survey of nutrition education in curricula of physician assistant training programs
1985
A survey assessed the status of nutrition education in 49 US physician assistant training programs. Most (44) included nutrition content in their training curriculum, with 14 offering a separate course in nutrition and 14 providing an opportunity for elective work in nutrition. The observed variability in the amount and type of nutrition training among the programs appeared to be due to student and program faculty interest, and to the availability of qualified teaching faculty. The survey also identified the ranking of 23 specific nutrition topics, in terms of the frequency with which they are included in US physician assistant teaching programs.(wz)
