Evaluating the Various Factors of the “Japanese Method” of Rice Cultivation in India
1965
Patel, J. P.
SynopsisThe use of “tauchigoruma” and 9-inch spacing were found to increase the yield of rough rice per acre independently. Six-inch spacing with a single seedling had greater panicle-bearing culms and a higher grain yield per panicle than 9-inch spacing with 3 seedlings at each hole. Hand-weeding increased plant height and the number of panicle-bearing culms in a unit area over tauchigoruma. The higher rate of fertilizers consistently increased plant height. Hand-weeding, the Japanese type nursery, and the higher rate of fertilizers enhanced the grain sterility.
