A study assessed the utility of 3 different N-15 tracers for evaluating nitrogen metabolism in infants, viz.: a biosynthetically-produced yeast-protein enzyme hydrolysate, yeast protein, and glycine, each labeled with N-15. Levels of N-15 were determined in infant fecal, urine, and plasma samples. Differences and similarities are described among the 3 tracers for assessing plasma protein and protein and nitrogen metabolism.
