Sod knit was significantly increased by fertilization. Tilling fertilizer into the soil prior to sod placement had no effect. The best fertilizer placement seemed to be one-half under and one-half over the sod. A useful mechanism for mechanically measuring sod knit is described. Other methods of measuring sod knit and fertilizer effect were not successful.
