A field was conducted at A.I.F., C. P. College Agronomy Farm, S. D. Agricultural University, Sardarkrushinagar during summer 2013 to find out a suitable irrigation schedule and sources of nitrogen under north Gujarat conditions. The experiment was laid out in split plot design with three levels of irrigation based on IW: CPE ratios of 0.6, 0.8 and 1.0 as main plot treatments and four treatments of sources of nitrogen viz., FYM, castor cake, Vermicompost and urea as sub plot treatments with four replications. The result revealed that among the different irrigation schedules, irrigation at 1.0 IW: CPE ratio recorded the higher value of growth, yield attributes, pod yield, halm yield, oil content, protein and uptake of N by plant, however, they were at par with 0.8 IW: CPE. Among the different sources of nitrogen tested, application of 25 kg ha⁻¹ from the source of castor cake recorded the higher value of above parameters, however, they were at par with source of Vermicompost. The higher net realization and BCR were recorded with irrigation applied at 0.8 IW: CPE rato with castor cake.
