Extract: This paper describes audioconferencing as a distance delivery medium for continuing education. A review of literature emphasizes strengths and weaknesses of this medium for continuing education directed to health professionals. The use of audioconferencing to deliver continuing education programs to dietitians-nutritionists in the province of British Columbia is described. Based on the literature reviewed and this experience with audioconferencing, we recommend that this delivery system be considered by other providers of continuing education to dietitians-nutritionists sparsely distributed over a large geographical area.(author)
