The experiment was laid down in Randomized Block Design (RBD) with three replications during kharif 2012 at Centre of Excellence for Research on Pulses, Sardarkrushinagar Dantiwada Agriculture University, Sardarkrushinagar, Gujarat. The observations were recorded both as visual assessment (days to flowering and days to maturity) and measurement on randomly selected five competitive individual plants (plant height, number of branches per plant, pods per plant, pod length, seeds per pod, 100-seed weight, seed yield per plant and protein content). Diallel analysis was performed using ten mungbean genotypes and their 45 F₁ hybrids. The parents GM 2, GM 3 and COGG 192 were good general combiners for seeds yield per plant and few other yield component traits. The cross GM 2 x GM 3 recorded the highest positive SCA effect and was top ranking in seed yield per plant and it involved Good x Good general combining ability parents. The other cross involving both good general combiner parents was Pusa Vishal x COGG 192 for 100-seed weight. These crosses were thus promising for selection of good homozygous lines from segregating generations for improvement of seed yield per plant.
