Ogasawara, T. | Chiba, K. | Tada, M.
The antimicrobial compound, 2-isopropenylnaphthazarin-2,3-epoxide, was isolated from hairy roots of Sesamum indicum which had been established by transformation of the mother plant witb Agrobacterium rhizogenes ATCC 15834. The content of the compound in the roots was over 50 times that found in the mother plants. Furthermore, two new anthraquinones, 2(4-methyl-1,3-pentadienyl)anthraquinone and 2(4-methyl-3-pentenyl) anthraquinone, were also produced.
