Progeny production and adult longevity of Cryptolestes pusillus (Coleoptera: Cucujidae) on broken and whole corn at selected humidities
1991
Cline, L.D.
Cryptolestes pusillus (Schonherr) adults lived longer and produced significantly more progeny on corn (Zea mays L.) at 75 and 84% RH than at 43% RH. Beetles generally produced more progeny on coarsely cracked corn than on meal, halves, or whole kernels. Humidity (with one exception) did not significantly affect progeny production on identical diets at 75 and 84% RH. Males lived longer than females. Longevity and progeny production on whole-corn kernels at all humidities and on all diets at 43% RH were greatly reduced.
