An experiment was conducted at Bihar Agricultural College, Sabour during July 2012 in Randomized Block Design (factorial RBD) with three replications having eighteen treatment combinations. The treatments comprised of the combination of biofertilizers as seed treatment (S₀-No seed treatment, S₁-Azotobacter + PSB) Vermicompost (V₀-No vermicompost, V₁-@ 2.5 t/ha and V₂-@ 5.0 t/ha) and chemical fertilizers (F₀-No RDF, F₁-RDF i.e. 100: 60: 60 kg NPK/ha, and F₂ = ½ RDF). Seeds were sown at the spacing of 50 x 50 cm. and hybrid used was “Sonakshi.’’ Maximum plant height, number of branches/plant, number of fruit/plant, fruit diameter, fruit weight and yield per plot were recorded with application of recommended dose of fertilizers (F₁ 100: 60: 60 NPK kg/ha) and vermicompost @5.0 t/ha along with seed treatment with biofertilizers whereas maximum number of branches per plant was obtained with RDF and [email protected] t/ha in the absence of seed treatment with biofertilizers.
