Blast (Pyricularia grisea) is one of major diseases reported on finger millet crop and causes significant yield losses. The experiment was conducted during Kharif-2014 to Kharif-2016 at Hill Millet Research Station, Navsari Agricultural University, Waghai (The Dangs), south Gujarat heavy rainfall zone – I and situation – I. The present investigation was carried out to evaluate germplasm lines of finger millet for resistance to blast disease on the basis of morpho biochemical parameters. Biochemical character such as total phenol was studied in the present investigation in different finger millet germplasm lines viz., GN -4, GN-5, GPU-28, GPU-48, GPU -67, RAU- 8, PR -202, KOPN- 235, KMR-204, L-5, MR-6, VL -149, VR -708, WWN-25 and WN-259.Out of fifteen genotypes screened against all the three stages of blast, six genotypes viz., GN-5, GPU-28, GPU-48, KOPN-235, KMR-204 and MR-6 showed resistant reaction against blast disease and exhibited high amount of total phenol content at all the three stages of plant The correlation of disease severity with total phenol was highly significant and negatively correlated with blast of finger millet.
