Extract: To improve the quality and quantity of food available for households in the developing countries, a different approach to food technology and marketing is required to that used in industrial countries. This paper describes the problems associated with food utilization, outlines examples of desirable food policies and technologies and shows how women working in their own self interest can improve food systems within the framework of the domestic issues which underlie regional and national food shortages in developing countries.
