The objective of this work was to evaluate the degradation of the soils of the basin "El Josefino", located in the municipality Jesus Maria, in the state of Jalisco. The sceneries were constructed with the use of a Geographical Information System. The data used consisted of four years of climatic information, soil use and soil units, which resulted in five Hydrologic Units, used for the prediction of water erosion. The methodologies used were: the Universal Equation of Soil Loss by water and wind erosion and FAO for chemical, physical and biological degradation. The results showed that the main processes of degradation of the soils of the basin are water and wind erosion, in values that place it between high and very high, 107 to 200 t ha(-1) ano(-1), affecting between 35 and 81% of the total area, respectively. The physical and chemical degradation represent minor degrees of affectation that go from slight to moderate.
