Use of the Scanning Electron Microscope in a Study of the Abrasive Properties of Textile Yarns

The possible mechanism of wear produced when yarn is passed over latch knitting needles is discussed. The structure of the yarn and its surface features are shown to be important factors in determining the nature of the wear process.
