Health care reform: impact on the nation's elderly
1993
Shoaf, L.R. | McCool, A.C.
Can Americans afford to grow old? Escalating health care costs force many elderly to make allocation decisions among food, shelter, and health care. Older Americans spend 18% of their income, or over one-third of their Social Security payments for medical care. Continued excessive inflation of health care costs will cause older persons to earmark even more of their income to health care.
