The effects of nutrients on premenstrual mood changes
1987
Abraham, G.E.
A technical report reviews recent findings supporting the association of certain nutrients with symptoms of the most common subgroup of premenstrual tension syndrome (PMTS), characterized by a premenstrual increase in anxiety, nervous tension, irritability, and dramatic mood changes. Applications of these findings to the proper nutritional management of women in this PMTS subgroup are proposed. Attention is given to the effects of ovarian steroids, and to the effects of certain nutrients on biogenic amines and ovarian steroids.
