Statistical causation and national forest policy in Oregon
1996
Burton, D.M. | Berck, P.
Granger causality tests are used to examine the relationships among macroeconomic variables, harvests, forestry sector employment, and national forest policy in Oregon. Statistical causation is found to run generally from macroeconomic variables to forestry employment, to harvests and to national forest policy. These findings raise questions about the validity of using national forest harvest policy to effect employment and community stability objectives.
