Efficacy of some insecticides on the red-striped soft scale Pulvinaria tenuivalvata, and yield and quality of sugarcane

The present study was carried out to evaluate the efficiency of certain chemical compounds (malathion, M. anisopliae, KZ-oil, pyriproxyfen, sesame oil and sulphur) against P. tenuivalvata under field conditions. Also, study the effect of these compounds on the properties of sugarcane and the residue of the most effective compound in sugarcane juice. The results indicated that malathion was the most effective materials in reduction% of P. tenuivalvata nymphs (80.56 and 83.01) and adults (76.14 and 68.19), while sesame oil (56.99 and 56.86 for nymphs, and 55.05 and 49.78 for adults) was the least effective during first and second seasons, respectively. Malathion was the most effective material in increasing the sugarcane quantity and quality. No malathion residues were detected in the juice. The present work suggested that malathion was more sufficient as a control measure and can use it for control of P. tenuivalvata under field conditions.
