Preventing cancer
1987
Peter Greenwald, the director of the National Cancer Institute (NCI), is interviewed about NCI's goal to cut the cancer death rate in half by the year 2000. Greenwald believes that this is possible if we cut our smoking rate in half, improve our screening and treatment programs, and change our diets. NCI believes that low fat, high-fiber diets may lower the number of deaths caused by breast, colon, and prostate cancer.(rah)
