THE Effects of polychlorobiphenyls on chorthippus brunneus (saltatoria: acrididae)

Fourth instar nymphs of Chorthippus brunneus were dosed topically with polychlorobiphenyl. No sublethal effects were detected on development or reproductive potential except for a probable latent toxicity, which may be correlated with mobilisation of lipids at the moult. The amounts absorbed to produce these toxic effects are much greater than those found in wild specimens.
