The NACNE Report: Are the dietary goals realistic? Comparisions with the dietary patterns of dietitians
1984
Black, A.E. | Ravenscroft, C. | Sims, A.J.
A comparison of dietary intakes of 42 dietitians obtained in a 1977 survey, with recommendations of the 1983 United Kingdom (UK) NACNE (National Advisory Committee on Nutrition Education) working party report, revealed a dietary fat energy intake of 42% for the dietitians vs. 32% recommended by the NACNE report. It is argued that a 34 % fat energy intake is a more appropriate goal for dietitians. The dietitians' daily intakes for sucrose and fiber were 35 and 23 g, respectonaly, while the corresponding recommended UK intakes are 55 and 30 g, respectively. Present national daily intakes of sucrose, fiber, and fat energy intakes are 100g, 20g, and 38%, respectively. (wz)
