Das, K.C. | Paul, Keshab | Bharbhuiya, S.A.
Physicochemical parameters such as Pᴴ, EC, TDS, Chloride, Fluorides and Iron of fifteen water samples from different sampling sites of Cachar District, Assam, India were determined. The experimental result shows that Pᴴ, EC, TDS, Chloride, Fluorides and Iron are in the range 6–7.2, 467–658, 60–2920, 0.4–0.65, 20–120 and 0.05–1.86 respectively. Almost all the water samples have significant amount of iron and the values are above the permissible limit and hence are not suitable for drinking and other domestic purposes. The water sample no. S12, S13, S14 have high value of TDS. Overall all the water samples are clear, odourless and soft. The samples collected from pond are muddy. Even few samples contain fluoride ion but the values are much below the permissible limits laid down by ICMR and WHO.
