An evaluation of lead levels in water, paint and dust in Bennington, Vt. was made by the Center for Disease Control, and correlated to blood lead levels in 200 children. Lead water pipes were found in 45 of 105 homes, with correspondingly higher lead content in water. There was no correlation between water lead and blood lead levels and no lead-related illness was evident in exposed children. The bioaccumulation threshold is related to background levels in air and dust, and are more likely to be reached in urban areas.
