Studies on Correlation and Path Coefficient Analysis in Brinjal (Solanum melongena L.)
2015
Vidhya, C. | Kumar, N.
Thirty genotypes of brinjal were evaluated to determine the nature of association among different yield contributing attributes and their direct and indirect contribution towards yield. Maximum positive significant genotypic and phenotypic correlation of marketable yield per plant recorded positive correlation with number of branches per plant, number of fruits per plant, yield per plant and negatively significant correlated with shoot borer infestation and fruit borer infestation. Path coefficient analysis revealed that number of branches per plant, number of fruits per plant and fruit length had positive direct effect towards marketable yield. These important traits may be considered in selection programme for the futher improvement of yield in brinjal.
