Genetic variability and correlations were studied in 40 inbred lines of maize. The data were recorded on seed yield and it's related traits. Grain yield was found to be significantly and positively correlated with plant height, ear height, ear girth, number of seed rows per ear, number of seeds per row, number of seeds per ear and 100-seed weight. Number of seeds per ear exhibited highest positive correlation with grain yield followed by plant height, number of seeds per row, ear height, 100 seed weight, ear girth, and number of seed rows per ear. The character days to 50% tasselling and days to 50% silking exhibited significant negative genotypic correlation with grain yield. Number of seeds per cob and grain yield estimates combined with high genotypic coefficient of variation with high heritability indicating additive gene action controlling these traits.
