The volume and composition of human milk in poorly nourished communities; A review
1978
Jelliffe, Derrick B. | Jelliffe, E.F.Patrice
An attempt is made to draw together the main relevant information on the volume and composition of human milk from different parts of the world, in which widely varying cultural, genetic, economic, and nutritional circumstances prevail. Two methods for measuring volume are described: test feeding (test weighing) and expression. Volume from well nourished mothers and those on supplementation diets is discussed. Composition is described as to protein, fat, lactose, calories, and vitamins. Conclusions, generalizations and practical approaches are presented.
